Fall Activities in New Orleans and Baton Rouge

So I’ve already shared My Fall Bucket List with you all last week but now it’s time to start crossing some of those items off of the list as DONE! I’ve been keeping tabs of things to do in New Orleans and Baton Rouge this Fall, and with Halloween right around the corner, there is so much happening that will keep your family busy in the coming days! Leaving a list of Fall Activities going on in Southeast Louisiana that are sure to put a smile on your kids’ faces!


NEW ORLEANS FALL ACTIVITIES

Peek-A-Boo at the Zoo

  • WHEN – Wednesday through Sunday October 20-24 from 10am-5pm (last entry 4pm)
  • WHERE – The Audubon Zoo
  • WHAT – This daytime celebration will provide fun for the whole family and some of your favorite Audubon Zoo animals too, ensuring your experience is filled with spooktacular memories. To add to the excitement, Peek-a-Boo at the Zoo presented by Chick-fil-A New Orleans guests are invited to wear their favorite costume as they partake in the festivities. Activities include unforgettable Animal experiences, hauntingly festive décor along the mysterious paths of Audubon Zoo and extinct Species Graveyard where you can pay your respects to species that are no longer with us and learn how to prevent extinctions from happening in the future. Weekend adventures include safe and socially-distanced-friendly Trick or Treating for little ghosts and goblins! You can also create your own seasonal crafts to take home! A-MAZE-ing Maze and a Spooky Haunted House are also fun activities you can do with the family!

Boo Dat!: A Spooktacular Saturday

  • WHEN – October 23 from 1:30pm – 4:30pm
  • WHERE – The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk
  • WHAT – This FREE family-friendly Halloween celebration allows kids a safe environment to trick-or-treat among 20+ retailers and enjoy seasonally themed activities. The event takes place from 1:30pm – 4:30pm, just in time to catch the Krewe of Boo parade after! Retailers and vendors at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk® will offer candy and special treats to trick-or-treaters. Additional activities include a Spooky coloring and arts area, costumed characters from haunted attraction New Orleans Nightmare and complimentary trick-or-treat bags!

Krewe of Boo! Halloween Parade

  • WHEN – October 23 at 6:30pm
  • WHERE – French Quarter (click here for official parade route)
  • WHAT – The annual Krewe of BOO! Halloween Parade is back and rolling through the heart of downtown New Orleans the weekend before Halloween weekend. Featuring 3-D fiberglass and papier-mâché extravaganza of werewolves, ghosts, vampires, and other Halloween-themed monsters, the Krewe of BOO! floats are very child-friendly, so bring the whole family! Costumes are encouraged, so parade-goers are welcome to wear your favorite family-friendly Halloween gear as you catch plenty of toys, candy, beads and Halloween-themed throws!
  • REMEMBER – Parade will roll rain or shine!

Halloweekend at the Louisiana Children’s Museum

  • WHEN – October 29-31
  • WHERE – Louisiana Children’s Museum
  • WHAT – A three-day celebration of all things spooky, creepy and magical like:⁠⁠ Spooky stories by the campfire⁠⁠, magic potion brewing⁠, pumpkin painting and other gourd-geous games⁠⁠, meeting the scarecrow and some creepy crawlers in their Edible Garden⁠⁠. Costumes are encouraged for all guests! This event is complimentary for LCM Members and included in general admission.

BATON ROUGE FALL ACTIVITIES

Boo at the Zoo

  • WHEN – October 16, 17, 23 and 24 from 9:30am – 5pm (admission stops at 4pm)
  • WHERE – BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo
  • WHAT – This merry, not scary trick-or-treat extravaganza began in 1996 and has grown to become one of Baton Rouge’s most popular Halloween events. NEW to Boo at the Zoo this year is the Capital City Produce Pumpkin Patch! Thousands of mini pumpkins will flood the pavilion area for beautiful seasonal photo opportunities. Children ages 12 and under will be invited to take one complimentary mini pumpkin as they depart their Zoo adventure.  The Zoo will be pre-packaging treat bags for all children ages 12 and under to collect upon exiting their day at the Zoo. There will no longer be treat stations around the Zoo, as in the past. This is being done to prevent crowding & eliminate additional touchpoints. Halloween costumes continue to be encouraged for all attendees. And a costume contest will be hosted this year, whereby attendees are encouraged to take a photo inside the zoo during the event and post it on social media using the hashtag #BRZooBoo2021. Zoo staff will select one lucky guest to win a Household Membership to enjoy the Zoo all year long.
  • REMEMBER – Special character visits from 11a-1pm on Saturdays only. Regular Zoo admission applies, free for members.

Cheeky Monkey’s Not So Scary Haunted House

  • WHEN – October 27-30th, Times Vary
  • WHERE – Cheeky Monkey’s Indoor Playground
  • WHAT – A Not-So-Scary Haunted House geared for all the little ghouls and goblins! Bring the kiddos for a fun family-friendly event full of just enough spookiness for our littles ones to enjoy! Their imaginations will take care of the rest! Admission is $9 for children presale and $11 at the door. $5 for anyone over 10years of age.
  • REMEMBER – Upon arrival, guests will form a line to our drive through check-in and be added to our virtual line app. We will confirm waivers are filled out (FILL OUT WAIVER), and give each person a wristband. Guests will receive notifications (via text) with a live queue to check their spot in line and when to head to the entrance. You may wait in your car or in the roped off section of the parking lot.

Knock Knock! Boos There?

  • WHEN – Thursday, October 28th 3:00pm – 7:00pm (3 sessions)
  • WHERE – Knock Knock Children’s Museum
  • WHAT – Halloween is here, and so is KNOCK KNOCK! BOO’S THERE? This year is going to be even more SPOOK-TACULAR than ever! Gather all your little ghosts and goblins for the best Halloween celebration in Baton Rouge. This year they are doing three-2 hour timed sessions to ensure a safe Trick or Treating experience in our 18 Learning Zones. Make sure to wear your costume and be ready to have a “monster-ous” good time. They even have a special Knock Knock Trick or Treat bag for all the little ghouls. Spook-tacular activities include pie pumpkin decorating, glow slime making with Knock Knock’s Mad Scientist and more!
  • REMEMBER – Session 1 – 3:00pm – 5:00pm, Session 2 – 4:00pm – 6:00pm, Session 3 – 5:00pm – 7:00pm

Full Moon Fete + Trunk & Treat

  • WHEN – Friday, Oct 29, 2021 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • WHERE – Forest Community Park
  • WHAT – Get your costumes ready! Come out and enjoy an evening filled with family fun entertainment! This is a SPOOKendous event you don’t want to miss. Movies + Live Music (Peyton Falgoust Band) + Trunk & Treat Trail + Character Visits + Giveaways + More! Donations will benefit recreation programs support by the BREC Foundation.
  • REMEMBER – Movie Schedule: Haunted Mansion at 4:30p and Hocus Pocus at 6:30p

Fifolet Halloween Parade

  • WHEN- October 30 from 2p-4p
  • WHERE – N. Sherwood Forest Community Park, 3140 N. Sherwood Forest Blvd.
  • WHAT – This year’s annual Flip Flop Parade has a “Monster Mash-Up!” theme. Take two things and mash them together to make something else or come up with a great pun! Krewes and local businesses or community organizations will have a large area to set up a Halloween themed display or performance. Families in cars will then drive by the displays and the first 1,000 children will receive a large FREE candy bag at the end. Dress in costume and please bring non-perishable food donations for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

Le Chein Brewery 1st Annual Halloween Party

  • WHEN – October 30 from 5p-9p
  • WHERE – Le Chein Brewery, 101 S Hummel, Denham Springs
  • WHAT – Join Le Chein Brewery as they celebrate their first anniversary with spooks, frights, but mostly delights! This family friendly brewery will have exciting activities planned at their One Year Spook Fest including trick or treating from 5-7pm, costume contests for kids, dogs, adults and groups! Live music, pumpkin painting, face painting, games and more.
  • REMEMBER – Le Chein Brewery will be releasing their long awaited Barrel Aged Bruce the Spruce Moose!
