How To Use Curly Hair Gel

If you know me, then you know that cream stylers are usually the only thing that works for my curly hair. I’ve tried many gels in the past and there are only a handful that have passed my curl test! As I mentioned above, I’m a sucker for cream stylers for my curly hair. I’ve never found much luck with gels. Other gels just don’t give me the flexible hold I need with the definition AND volume I love! 

This new gel was made for me and every other curly girl out there that prefers anything but a gel. LUS has actually given this styler the nickname of the “Anti-Gel” Gel, because it has all the things I love about a great styler without all of the things I hate about a gel!

It gives ultra-hydrating hold, providing more definition and less frizz…all while repairing your hair! It’s a gel that’s ACTUALLY GOOD for your hair! HOW TO USE THE LUS IRISH SEA MOSS GEL

I start off with freshly washed curls. I used the LUS Love Ur Curls Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner. Before styling, I ensure that my hair is wet. You can use a spray bottle to rewet your hair if it begins to feel like it’s drying too quickly. The key to great styler application is to apply on wet hair.

This new LUS Irish Sea Moss Gel is actually a superstep to the 3-step routine! First, Cleanse. Second, Condition. Third, use the All-in-One Styler combined with the Irish Sea Moss Gel.

For those who may be curious, I use the Kinky Coily version of the All-in-One cream styler. I’ve found that it works best for my hair type in the moisture department! After raking a small amount of the All-in-One Styler, I’m ready for the LUS Irish Sea Moss Gel!

I start with a small amount and work my way through with more product as needed. The LUS Irish Sea Moss Gel has fantastic slip to make raking it in the hair so easy! Styling products with great slip help smooth the cuticles of the hair down, which helps with softness and shine. I want just enough gel to be able to hear a squishing sound when scrunching my curls. Scrunching encourages a more defined curl pattern.

After styling, I do my best to let my hair air dry without touching my curls. I want to avoid as much friction to my hair as possible which in turn will help to prevent frizz! I want to be able to allow the gel to form its cast around my hair until it’s fully dry.

The air drying lasted about a half hour until I grew impatient! I was eager to see my results of fully dried curls! With a blow dryer and diffuser attachment on low blow and little to no heat, my hair dried after 25 minutes. I knew my hair was 100% dry when a cast had fully formed.

A big test to see if you’ve found a great gel or not comes down to the moment you break the cast. If you try to break the cast and your hair feels stringy, frizzy, dry, or crunchy… you’ve got a horrible gel. When I finally broke the cast after using the LUS Irish Sea Moss Gel, I was shocked at my results!

My curls felt incredibly soft and coiled quite nicely. I had nice flexible hold, great bounce, no frizz, beautiful shine and overall healthier looking hair. I am thoroughly pleased with my results! The LUS Irish Sea Moss Gel hit all of the targets I was looking for in a styler. PLUS it’s making my hair healthier in the process! It truly changed my mind about gels!
