Prepping Myself Mentally for a VBAC

I’m nearly done with Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth. It was recommended by a couple of women who have either had all natural at home births or Vbacs. And while I’m not trying to push this baby out at home (I’m afraid of not making it to the hospital on time if there was ever an emergency), I am praying for the delivery of my dreams: vaginal tub birth without medication.

I feel very confident and comfortable with the hospital I’ve chosen to give birth at, as well as with the Midwives at that hospital. Still on the fence about a Doula but the more I talk to friends about it, the more I’m leaning towards the extra support.

I know my body and I know my mind, and I KNOW I need to be not just physically prepared but mentally as well. The last thing I need is for people to tell me I can’t do it, that I shouldn’t even try. So I distance myself from those who have thrown that negativity my way because it’s my body, my goal, and if there’s still a chance I can have the delivery of my dreams… why not try, with a positive attitude.

If you have had a natural birth or a Vbac, I’d love to hear any tips you might have or suggested accounts to follow. And if there’s another book you’d recommend, send over the name so I can start reading up on that too!

I’ve got 4 months to go and I’m ready!

Un Besito,
