Master Bedroom Makeover + Lull Mattress Review

Of all the bedrooms in this house we should be working on right now, we’ve decided to tackle our master bedroom. Never mind the fact that a baby will be here in about two months and we have no nursery ready yet. Ha! Bring on the pressure!

But seriously… our master bedroom is something we’ve been wanting to tackle for quite some time now. And by quite some time, I mean since I moved in! Sleep spaces have always been areas that I think should be priorities in a home because it’s your most personal space – and for me, it’s my sanctuary. Especially when it comes to my bed.

Before I moved in with my now husband, I had (what I thought was) a very comfortable and dreamy queen sized bed. I spent far too long looking for the right bed set and when I did, I was convinced it would be with me for another 10-20 years to come. And then comes Lance with his king sized bed, and my poor queen bed was demoted to guest room. I had no problem upgrading mattress size, what I had a problem with was how hideous it looked, along with the fact that it was extremely uncomfortable.

Now, mind you… I had already done some sprucing in the bedroom before even getting to the point of what it looks like above. The bed set Lance had before was a darker grey with a funny looking pattern on it that didn’t go with ANYTHING in the bedroom, especially that bright brown 4-post bed. One of the first things I did was change the grey and dizzy comforter to something that was just white. I figured the brighter, the better. Still, that 4 post bed was hideous. I was on the search for a new headboard when I noticed that paying for anything king size was a bit of a stretch, so I did other things instead to try to compensate for the eyesore.

I bought decorative pillows, and threw sheer curtains where our closets are (we don’t have closet doors so our mess, I mean clothes were exposed). I even bought lamps and mirrors for our night stands to distract ourselves from the hideous bed that took up half of our room.

NOTHING HELPED!

The bed was just THERE! And every night… and every morning… it stared me in the face, taunting me almost. So I was determined to get rid of it. I prayed on the chance of finding something affordable and I prayed that it would happen SOON because sleep has been a bit of a nightmare for me lately now that I’m pregnant. Comfort has been so important for me and I just haven’t been able to get it in our old bed.

Alas, in comes Lull to save the day!!

I was excited to find in my inbox an opportunity to collaborate with Lull for a mattress review. I mean, can we talk about perfect timing!? I immediately hopped on this chance as we continued to hunt for the perfect bed set and I promise you all, friends… everything fell into place beautifully. We came across a headboard that we fell in love with and started to build from there! Found bed frames and box springs, and the perfect duvet covers to match our style all online a matter of days.

Y’all, I’ve been on a hunt for these things for the last 12 months, and NOW everything falls into place? Look at God! We still had a few Target gift cards left over from our wedding gifts and decided to put that to use so technically… our bed was a collective wedding gift from several of our guests! Once the orders had been placed, it was just a matter of waiting for everything to arrive. Before we knew it, we had quite a few packages at our doorstep ready to be assembled. But the package that excited us the most was our Lull delivery!

Check out our video below to see what all of the excitement was about!

$150 off, plus free shipping, PLUS a 100 night guarantee? I mean, come on! That’s a great deal! There’s even financing available which I don’t think I mentioned in the video! I know for us, we are definitely glad we made the switch. Sleeping has been way more comfortable than before so I know these last few months of pregnancy, I won’t wake up so sore like I was before. This belly has made for big adjustments in my night time routines so this new mattress has just made things so much easier for me!

Aside from the amazing mattress, I’m definitely pleased with how our bedroom set came out. We ALMOST purchased the matching night stands but decided to wait because… hello… baby on the way lol! Besides, our old night stands and dresser seem to fit the decor anyway, so why not!

I think our favorite detail about the bed would be our headboard we got from target! It has a nice rustic feel to it which is a vibe Lance and I both love! We did have to make slight adjustments to the holes at the bottom of the headboard’s feet to fit our bed frame (the frame was by a different company altogether, so we assumed this would be something we’d come across when putting everything together) but no task Lance couldn’t handle!

I especially love the lamps attached to the headboard. You just tap them on by pressing the button in the bulb. So convenient instead of having to lean over to the lamps sitting on our night stands. Makes reading in bed nice while not having to disturb my husband getting his Zzzz’s on!

With our new bed in place, we went ahead and decluttered our night stands and hung up the bed side mirrors. Now all we have are our favorite photos of each other, our necessities (mine would be a cute wooden block of the state of Louisiana because home, and a special ring dish all the way from Portugal to hold my wedding rings in courtesy of my bridesmaid and close friend, Summer!)

All in all, we are so pleased with how the room turned out! As promised, I’ll leave links below to everything we got to spruce up our room to make it feel more like us! Quick note, we’re not 100% crazy about our bed skirt so chances are we will be swapping that out soon so I’ll also leave a link to the skirt we plan on purchasing! Any other link that’s not identical to what’s in our bedroom will just be similar items found!

Hope this helps!

Un Besito,
